Music And Its Uniqueness
As we all know music plays a very important role in all our lives, and this is one such medium that bonds every human being on this planet. Music has a lot of different elements to it and what we see in the end is just the final product. Genres is a very common term that we come across in the musical field as it helps us in finding out the tradition and background for the music. In my previous blog, I spoke about how music is a universal language, and why people also consider it as an amazing healer for all our stress. Uniqueness is a very inquisitive term as it helps us in finding out the difference between people, things, and, a lot more. Genre is the uniqueness of music as it classifies the cultural and ethnic background of the music. The sole purpose of this blog is to introduce the genre and how it helps us in finding the right music for the right purpose.
From the image above I am able to generate the uniqueness of music as I have various genres mixed in one single frame. I am an Indian but settled in a beautiful middle eastern country called Oman. As a percussionist, I have had the privilege to have my hands on instruments from various genres and this has helped me to initialize my process of choosing the right instrument for the right occasion. The reason I chose this image was because of a good mix of Arabic, western, and, Indian fusion. I have instruments from all continents, and I am able to produce some unique composition of mine as my final product. Therefore this is what is the uniqueness of the music as we are able to generate our ideas in a creative way using genres.
Nowadays we have some amazing features on our music applications on our phone where we have the option of aligning our music according to its genre and purpose. We are able to store our favorite music for our workout, parties, and, religious events as well. Workout music itself has become a genre as we come across some dynamic beats in our gym and some from other genre playlists as well. This advanced technological feature has helped us to play the correct music according to our mindset and we are able to enjoy it peacefully without any stress in our mind. The sole purpose of music is it calm and relax one’s mind, but we do sometimes come across a question that “How can we relax if the music is annoying/distracting?”
If we are unable to find the right music for our temperament then we should just mute the music and enjoy the natural music that we have in our surroundings like the beautiful and rhythmic sound of the water, birds and, wind. These natural elements to have a rhythm in them that makes the environment peaceful. Silence is also a form of music that calms our entire system from all the disturbances around us. So genre is the unique feature that helps us to learn more about the music and what sort of audience it caters to and this helps us in channelizing the correct music for our routine schedule.
This track is from my album Palasampada and its a good example for a fusion of genres. This also includes natural elements which adds a solid touch to our final production. This also plays an important role as meditative music as it has western, Indian, and natural elements like the sound of water and birds. I felt this track is a good example to look at music and its uniqueness. Hope you enjoy the music and stay safe during this difficult time.
